Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins are expecting their fifth child!
They announced Lauren’s pregnancy in a social media video that updated his family-and-parenthood-focused hit from 2018, “Life Changes.”
When he originally wrote the song, Rhett was gearing up to be a dad to “two under two” — but that number of kids has grown quite a bit in the years since.
“I was wrapping my head around being a dad / A bigger wrench got thrown in the plans we thought we had / Now Lauren’s showing, got one on the way,” he sings in the new video.
Meanwhile, Lauren turns to the camera and shows off her baby bump with a shocked facial expression.
“That’s…” Rhett continues, as he stops to the do the math.
“Five under 10, hey, what can I say?” he continues.
At the end of the video, Lauren unfurls a roll of sonogram images to show the camera.
What Else Did Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins Say About Their Baby-to-Be?
The couple didn’t share their new baby’s due date.
They also didn’t share the sex of the baby. All four of the family’s kids so far are girls, so the big question on lots of fans’ minds is whether this baby will continue the streak, or be their first boy.
TR and Lauren did say that their kids are over the moon about the new addition to the family.
“Here we go again!” they wrote in the caption for their joint post.
“We’ve got some really excited big sisters in our house,” they added. “God is so good.”

The couple’s oldest child is nine-year-old Willa Gray, whom they adopted from Uganda in 2017.

She came home at 18 months old, after an arduous, year-long adoption process.
The next child to arrive in the family was eight-year-old Ada James, who was born on Aug. 12, 2017. Lauren gave birth to Ada just two months after the couple brought her big sister Willa Gray home.
TR and Lauren are also parents to five-year-old Lennon Love and three-year-old Lillie Carolina.
Though the couple took a break before expanding their family further, another baby has always been in the plans.
In 2024, Rhett told Taste of Country that they were waiting until their four kids were a little older before going for another baby, admitting that the busy parents were “drowning” with four young kids in the house.

But he also said at the time that they weren’t ruling out welcoming another child, either through pregnancy or through adoption.
