Bieber’s eighth album arrives less than two months after his seventh LP, Swag
Justin Bieber has much more Swag to offer. He has officially released Swag II, the follow-up to July album Swag.
The LP, shared in the early hours of Friday morning, features 23 tracks, including “Speed Demon,” “Better Man,” and “Love Song.” There are several collaborations on the album with artists like Lil B, Hurricane Chris, Eddie Benjamin, and Tems. “OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGG WE LIVEEEEEEEEEE,” Bieber wrote on Instagram when the album dropped.
Bieber’s eighth album arrives less than two months after his seventh. Like Swag, Bieber announced the new LP a day before its arrival with a flurry of Instagram posts featuring billboards and other large-scale promotions of the album cover. In a Rolling Stone review of Swag, writer Rob Sheffield wrote that while the album “definitely makes it clear that Bieber’s got issues — his issues have issues,” the singer “channels it all into some of the most genuinely creative and wide-ranging music of his life.”
Swag had been Bieber’s first album in four years. In the time since releasing 2021’s Justice, Bieber had been dealing with a series of career setbacks and health scares. He canceled his massive world tour in support of Justice following a Ramsay Hunt Syndrome diagnosis, which left part of his face paralyzed. He also quietly parted ways with longtime manager Scooter Braun, who had discovered Bieber on YouTube when the singer was quite young. Rumors have swirled about both personal and financial tensions that led to the dissolution of their professional relationship.
Last year, Bieber became a first time dad with wife Hailey. Their son Jack Blues turned one a couple weeks ago.
