Fans Obsess Over Ernest and Morgan Wallen’s Rendition of Old Hymn

Remember when Ernest and Morgan Wallen sang an old Christian hymn called “‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus”?

Well, if you forgot, Ernest took a moment to remind all of us — and maybe tease something coming down the pike.

The moment first happened in 2023 when a video of Wallen and Ernest surfaced online. In the clip, the two sing the 1800s hymn a cappella while sitting next to a fire.

“Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him / How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er / Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus / O for grace to trust Him more,” the two harmonize together on the song’s refrain.

Why Did Ernest Share an Old Video of a Hymn?

Recently, Ernest resurrected the clip and reposted it on social media. The video has been picking up steam and has been viewed more than 236,000 times.

In addition to the snippet, Ernest let some of his inner thoughts pop out in the caption.

“Might make a gospel album,” he types. “We need it.”

If the country hitmaker wasn’t making an outright declaration of his plans, he may have been feeling out what fans would think of a project like that.

Are Ernest and Morgan Wallen Doing a Gospel Album?

There has been no official word from either artist about a gospel album, either joint or solo. However, both have been open about their faith in the past.

Wallen even said anytime he can put Jesus into his lyrics, he’ll do it.

Based on the comments on Ernest’s post, fans appear to be on board, if such a product is made.

“Please make one!!!” one person writes.

“Morgan Wallen, please make an old gospel hymn album!!!!! We love it,” another adds.

“Don’t tease! Do It!!” someone chimes in while another writes, “YES!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Like many country artists, these two always seem to be working on something and they don’t sit on music for too long. If there is a gospel project brewing, they’ll likely share the news soon. But only time will tell.

11 Country Stars Who Speak Out About Their Faith

When it comes to country music, you don’t have to search for too hard to find songs that bring Jesus in.

Country stars tend to be bold in speaking out about their faith and the struggles they’ve had trying to walk that straight and narrow path to find God.

It’s also no surprise that many of fans’ favorite artists have either released Christian-leaning songs or have collaborated with gospel-singing neighbors.

We’ve rounded up several country singers who have unapologetically spoken to their faith for the world to see and who spread the Gospel, one song at a time.
