Almost one week after Charlie Kirk was fatally shot at a speaking event at Utah Valley University, Jason Aldean offered a simple message to the world.
What Did Jason Aldean Say After Charlie Kirk’s Murder?
“Please don’t let this man’s death be in vain,” he posted to Instagram Stories, along with an emoji of two hands pressed together in prayer.
He set his message over a montage video of clips of Kirk with his children, and audio of the late conservative commentator speaking about his experience of fatherhood.

“When you have a child of your own, I think it changes everything,” Kirk says at one point in the clip. “It motivates you. It gives you increased purpose and increased meaning.”
The video also features a clip of Kirk arguing to recenter family and faith in his generation’s identity, saying that the most important things in life are “loving God, loving people and raising children in a society that follows God’s commands.”
In his Stories slide remembering Kirk, Aldean didn’t single out any one particular message of Kirk’s that he hopes carries on beyond his death.
But the video he shared emphasizes faith above all else — including politics — and a priority on marrying a partner and raising children together in an environment that emphasizes Christian faith.

After Kirk was shot and killed on Wednesday (Sept. 10), Aldean was one of the first country stars to pay tribute to him in concert.
That Thursday (Sept. 11), he gave an emotional performance of “Try That in a Small Town” in Detroit, Mich.
He also said that he’d been following Kirk for years, and described him as “one of the best people ever.”
“This guy wanted nothing more than what was best for all of us and our kids and everything moving forward,” Aldean told the crowd during his time onstage.
Aldean and his wife Brittany are vocal about their conservative politics, and close to several right-wing politicians. It seems they were fairly close to Kirk, too.
In the wake of his death, Brittany shared a collection of photos of herself and her country star husband posing for pictures with Kirk.
She also shared an emotional tribute, writing, “He put everything on the line to be a voice for those who weren’t able. I admired him. His courage, his intelligence, his faith…there will truly never be another like him.”
