Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson to Star in Netflix Road Trip Docuseries

The duo will head on a road trip for a three-part Netflix series, expected to drop next year

Directioners, it’s your time. Rolling Stone can confirm that Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson linked up to film a documentary series for Netflix, slated to drop next year.

The three-part series will be directed by Nicola Marsh, who is behind Song Exploder and Leo Baker’s Stay on Board. The yet-to-be-named project will follow the former One Direction members going on a “spontaneous adventure” across the United States, sharing a “rare look” at both of their private lives and a rekindling of their friendship.

According to a press release, the show will see the pair “opening up about life, love, loss, and fatherhood.” The news of the collaboration comes nearly a year after One Direction member Liam Payne died tragically in Argentina after falling from a hotel balcony.

The series will be produced by Campfire Studios, which was behind Unknown Number: The High School Catfish, Smartless: On the Road, and America’s Sweethearts: The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

When recently asked by iHeartRadio about a reunion with Malik for a special project, Tomlinson said coyly: “I thought that was pretty interesting, pretty astute… I just suppose they’d have to wait and see.” The comments came several weeks after Malik and Tomlinson were spotted filming together at a Nashville bar.

Earlier this week, Tomlinson announced his Jan. 23 album How Did I Get Here? and released his single “Lemonade.” Of the upcoming LP, he said: “I sum up it as ‘The record I always deserved to make.’ My bread and butter is my honesty.” Tomlinson is also scheduled to go on tour next summer.

For Malik’s part, the star will host a residency at Las Vegas’ Dolby Live at Park MGM in January 2026. His set list is expected to span all four of his albums, including his knockout R&B-fueled debut Mind of Mine, its follow-up Icarus Falls, his pandemic record Nobody Is Listening, and his introspective pseudo-country album, Room Under the Stairs.
