Louis Tomlinson Drops Silly ‘Lemonade’ Video: Watch

“The most important thing was for the first single to sound ambitious sonically. It had to be big and fun,” he previously said of the song

When life gives you lemons … sometimes you end up at a lemonade stand watching a sock puppet show. On Monday, Louis Tomlinson dropped the trippy video for his new single “Lemonade,” which sees him losing it a bit under the scorching sun.

“She got me wakin’ at times that I’ve never seen/Bright yellow spaceship might make me start to believe,” Tomlinson sings on the track. “Symptoms are stuck on repeat, no point in tryin’ to leave/She got me wakin’, it’s doin’ somethin’ to me.”

The video follows Tomlinson sweating through a photo shoot before deciding he’s had enough of the heat. In a haze, he stumbles into a surreal estate and finds himself surrounded by lemon-yellow, otherworldly figures who guide him to a bizarre sock-puppet show. Eventually, he snaps out of the trance and dives fully clothed into a pool, finding clarity and escaping the craziness.

“The most important thing was for the first single to sound ambitious sonically. It had to be big and fun,” he previously said of the single. “To me, ‘Lemonade’ really has instant and natural personality. It ended up being the perfect way to begin this chapter.”

“I sum up it as ‘The record I always deserved to make,” Tomlinson said in a statement while announcing his album. “My bread and butter is my honesty. I genuinely wear my heart on my sleeve, and I hope it comes through in the music … For the first time now, I’m allowing myself to be the artist I’d always hoped to be.”
