Fire Dept. Getting Calls Due to This House’s Halloween Décor

There is a house in South Carolina with such a realistic Halloween decoration setup that it’s causing neighbors and passers by to call 911 because they think the house is on fire.

KVUE-TV reports that the home is located in Fountain Inn, S.C.

The local fire department is being bombarded with 911 calls about a giant house fire. The only problem is, the house is not actually on fire.

It’s an elaborate Halloween display with smoke-like fog billowing out of windows, orange lights flickering and sheets in the windows set up to look like flames.

The couple, Sam Lee and Amanda Payton, are known for going all out on Halloween every year.

One year, they even bought hundreds of pumpkins and put them on their front yard. They invited neighbors to grab one, like a pumpkin patch.

But this year, they might have gone overboard with their house on fire setup. It just looks too real.

Neighbors said it was “terrifying” and wondered if they needed to call 911 as soon as they saw it.

Another person the news team interviewed outside the home says “I fell like I can feel the heat from right here. That’s crazy.”

Here’s the thing: The family that set up the decorations actually called the fire department ahead of time and cleared it with the local fire chief.

The fire department isn’t just in on the joke: They actually used the setup to film a few fire-safety videos while they were there. That shows how realistic the setup actually is.
