What LeAnn Rimes’ ‘9-1-1 Nashville’ Co-Stars Say About Her

9-1-1 Nashville is bringing country singer LeAnn Rimes to the small screen. Rimes plays Dixie Bennings on the TV drama series — a single mother who stirs up plenty of drama for the first-responder characters.

While her on-screen persona is fiery and bold, her co-stars say she’s nothing like Dixie in real life.

Jessica Capshaw, who plays Blythe Hart, met Rimes for the first time on set, though she’s been a fan of the singer for years.

Ahead of the premiere, Taste of Country was on the red carpet catching up with the cast.

Capshaw shared that she vividly remembers listening to Rimes’ hit song “Blue” when it first came out while she was in college. Since then, she’s been a fan of Rimes and her music.

“I met LeAnn for the first time at work,” she shares. “We were in a scene that was a little bit of a standoff, so it’s funny because she’s so warm — and I believe I am as well. There we were, having this warm meeting in real life, but on screen we were portraying something that was not friendly at all.”

For now, the two may be enemies on the show, but Capshaw teased that their dynamic could change as the series goes on.

“They might get fake friendly,” she said with a smile. “They might get real friendly.”

While their characters may not get along on screen, it’s a different story in real life.

“We walk off and then we are back to being us,” she assured.

Hunter McVey, who plays Blue Bennings, Rimes’ son on-screen, shared similar sentiments about the singer.

“I was very nervous meeting LeAnn for the first time,” McVey admits. “She was so warm and so supportive, those nerves went right out the window. She has this energy about her that is very motivating. I have felt nothing but supported.”

Are The TV Family Friends in Real Life?

“We do text,” he shares. “She likes my friend’s sourdough quite a bit, so we deliver sourdough and cinnamon rolls, and we share baking reels back and forth.”

He’s even become friends with Rimes’ husband.

“Eddie is amazing as well,” he says. “They have become great friends of ours [him and his fiancé].”
