George Strait is headed to Death Valley in 2026!
After a handful of posts teasing big plans for the new year, the country veteran finally ripped the Band-Aid off to reveal his plans for a show in the home of the Clemson Tigers football team.
It’s a bit of a full circle moment for both Strait and the venue itself.
As he explains in the caption, the last time the stadium hosted a concert was nearly 30 years ago, and it just so happens it was a show for the King of Country Music.
“The last time Death Valley hosted a concert was 1999 and it was George Strait,” he types. “In 2026, the King returns.”
The event is billed as an “in the round” style show and will be one night only. Cody Johnson and Wyatt Flores will join him for the event, which will take place on Saturday, May 2.
Is George Strait Still Touring?
While massive tours spanning several months are long gone for the country hitmaker, Strait is no stranger to the road.
The last few years, he has been doing a handful of shows at various stadiums across the nation.
In 2025, he toured with Chris Stapleton serving as direct support and special guests Parker McCollum and Little Big Town joining him for select shows.
So far, his show at Death Valley is the only date on his calendar for 2026. Whether he will do more shows with Stapleton has yet to be announced.
Zach Bryan Breaks George Strait’s Attendance Record
Earlier this year, Zach Bryan broke the attendance record for the largest country concert when he performed in front of 112,408 people at Michigan Stadium on Sept. 27. Previously, Strait held the record after he played in front of 110,905 fans at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, in 2024.
Strait’s 2026 show could give him his attendance record back. The seating capacity at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium is 81,500 without counting any seating on the field. An “in the round” style show would certainly give him a chance to pack in the fans.

George Strait has sold his one-of-a-kind mansion in Texas, and it was actually a real deal. The country legend asked $6.9 million for his 7,925-square-foot home that includes three bedrooms, four full bathrooms and two half-baths on a hilltop in a very exclusive area of San Antonio. The final selling price was not disclosed.
The house sits on 12.2 acres and includes a gourmet kitchen, separate his and her bathrooms and closets and 14 hand-sculpted masonry fireplaces. The main house is wired for surround sound throughout, and it also features outdoor living spaces including a patio with built-in grill, sink, icemaker and refrigerator. There’s also an infinity pool/spa and a sports court, a workout room with a private bathroom and sauna, and a walk-in safe room.
