Parker McCollum Gets Into Thanksgiving Spirit with a Tasty Jingle

If you’re waiting for Parker McCollum to release Christmas music, you may have to wait a little longer. It seems he’s more focused on shining a spotlight on Thanksgiving.

The country singer took to social media to share his thoughts.

“Alright, so everybody always makes Christmas music. Loves Christmas music,” he says, before pointing out, “Nobody ever makes Thanksgiving music, as far as I know. I’m sure somebody has to some extent.”

“So I thought I’d give y’all a little Thanksgiving song that I wrote,” McCollum continues. “It goes something like this.”

“Sweet potato, brown sugar, butter and cream for me / I eat it on Thanksgiving / Sweet potato, hurry to my tummy tonight / Hurry to my tummy tonight,” he sings to the tune of Eartha Kitt’s “Santa Baby.”

Are There Any Songs About Thanksgiving?

As McCollum pointed out, there are a few Thanksgiving songs that have been released over the years. Adam Sandler graced us with “The Thanksgiving Song” during an iconic Saturday Night Live performance.

There’s also the “Thanksgiving Theme” from the Vince Guaraldi Trio, “The Thanksgiving Song” from Bing Crosby, and a handful of others. Still, the number of Turkey Day tunes pales in comparison to the massive catalog of Christmas songs out there.

Country Artists Releasing Christmas Albums in 2025

Several country singers are releasing or have already released holiday albums this year. Lady A has already put out On This Winter’s Night Volume 2, the follow-up to their 2012 project.

Meanwhile Trisha Yearwood will release Christmastime on Nov. 7, the same day Brad Paisley will drop Snow Globe Town. The dates is a popular one for holiday offerings. Leann Rimes will also release her Leann Rimes Greatest Hits Christmas collection on that date.

A handful of country artists are taking the holiday spirit to the next level with holiday tours. Lady A, Yearwood, Chris Young and Brett Eldredge will all be on the road in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
