Todd Snider Arrested for Hospital Outburst After Alleged Assault

The musician, who has canceled the rest of his tour, was booked for allegedly threatening staff after being treated at a Salt Lake City hospital

Singer-songwriter Todd Snider has put his tour on hold after allegedly being assaulted outside a hotel and then arrested for allegedly causing a disturbance at a Salt Lake City hospital.

On Monday, Snider’s team posted on Instagram that the tour was being canceled and that Snider would be “unable to perform for an undetermined amount of time.” They said that prior to his scheduled Nov. 1 show in South Salt Lake City — just the second date on his High, Lonesome and Then Some Tour — Snider “sustained severe injuries as the victim of a violent assault outside his hotel.”

The South Salt Lake City Police Department did not immediately return a request for comment regarding the alleged attack.

Snider was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and then discharged by the staff. But according to a statement from a Salt Lake City PD spokesperson, Snider “initially refused to leave.” The statement continued: “Hospital staff discharged Mr. Snider who then left, however he returned sometime later and began making threats to assault staff members.”

Snider was subsequently arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct, threat of violence, and trespassing. Snider has since been released from jail and has not yet been formally charged.

Snider, who released his most recent album, High, Lonesome and Then Some, in October, kicked off his tour at the end of the month in Colorado. The run was scheduled to wrap on Nov. 16 in Bozeman, Montana, but all of the remaining dates have now been canceled. As it stands, Snider still plans on returning to the road in mid-January.
