Kid Rock Adds a New Verse About Charlie Kirk to Cody Johnson Song

Kid Rock filled in for Cody Johnson at the Hondo Rodeo Fest in Arizona recently.

While he was onstage, he took the liberty of adding another verse to Johnson’s No.1 hit, ” ‘Till You Can’t”, about slain political activist Charlie Kirk.

Rock was standing in for Johnson as he continues to heal from his burst eardrum surgery, and he decided to use the opportunity to remember Kirk.

According to Music Mayhem, Rock sang the first verse of ” ‘Till You Can’t” then paused the song and show.

“Now, a few weeks ago, I woke up alone early on a Sunday morning and had this song stuck in my head,” he told the crowd.

“And in that moment, someone or something spoke to me and told me there was still a verse missing from this song, and to get up and write it down. So I did,” Rock continued.

At that exact moment, Kirk’s face showed up on the screens behind him.” And now, I know exactly who was speaking to me that morning,” Rock said.

Rock then continued, in a quiet, almost whisper-like tone, singing the new, added lyrics.

What Lyrics Did Kid Rock Add to Cody Johnson’s ” ‘Till You Can’t”?

Rock’s added verse focuses on finding faith.

There’s a book that is sitting in your house somewhere that could use some dusting off / There’s a man that died for all our sins / hanging from the cross / You can give your life to Jesus / and he’ll give you a second chance / ’til you can’t, ’til you can’t.

Kirk spoke about religion just as much as he spoke about politics during his career. He was an evangelical Christian who gave his life to Jesus at a young age, and his religious beliefs shaped much of his political worldview.
