Megan Moroney is introducing her Cloud 9 era at the 2025 CMA Awards. On Wednesday night, the emo cowgirl took the stage to perform her hit 2025 single “6 Months Later,” just a week after announcing her third album, out next year.
Dressed in a fuzzy, pink Elle Woods–esque robe and surrounded by some baddie-bestie backup dancers in matching PJs, Moroney sang along to the fan-favorite track. Midway through the song, she shook off the robe to reveal a sparkly mini dress as she twirled across the stage.
Behind her, a nearly complete heart floated, echoing the pink Valentine’s Day themes of her upcoming album. Moroney emulated the call center antics of her music video at the end of the performance, picking up a sparkly phone to send a guy to voicemail: “Oh, sorry, I think you have the wrong number?”
Moroney is tied for the most award nominations for the night, thanks to her second album, Am I Okay?.
After winning the trophy for New Artist of the Year last year, Moroney is up for the coveted Album of the Year trophy and Female Vocalist. In the Album of the Year race, she faces off against Zach Top’s Cold Beer & Country Music, Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion, Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem, and Lainey Wilson’s Whirlwind.
Moroney’s “Am I Okay?” was nominated for Single, Song, and Music Video of the Year. Her collab with Kenny Chesney, “You Had to Be There,” is up for Musical Event of the Year.
Last week, Moroney unveiled her album cover for her third album, Cloud 9, sharing its hot-pink aesthetic and announcing its Feb. 20 release date.
“It’s all written about honest, personal experiences, but these songs were written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been,” Moroney said about the upcoming record. “My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry, and it was fun to play around sonically, while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love.”
Along with Moroney, Luke Combs, Riley Green, Ella Langley, Kelsea Ballerini, Zach Top, Old Dominion, and BigXThaPlug are also scheduled to perform at this year’s awards show. The CMA Awards are being hosted by Lainey Wilson from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
