The CMA Entertainer of the Year performs the holiday version of her Whirlwind deluxe song, along with “Somewhere Over Laredo”
Fresh off her big wins at the 2025 CMA Awards last week, Lainey Wilson made a special appearance at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. The Louisiana country singer trotted out a medley for the occasion, performing the holiday version of her song “Peace, Love and Cowboys,” off the deluxe edition of her album Whirlwind, and her single “Somewhere Over Laredo.”
Decked in a red fur poncho and bright lipstick to match, Wilson belted “Peace, Love and Cowboys” and “Somewhere Over Laredo” over a live backing band. While couples were staged below the hay-strewn platform she sang from, they became romantic ballroom dancers when “Peace, Love and Cowboys” began.
Wilson is riding high after hosting and performing at the 59th CMAs in Nashville. She also cleaned up with trophies too. Wilson won the top prize of Entertainer of the Year, her second win in the category, along with Album of the Year for Whirlwind and Female Vocalist of the Year. She’ll close out the year with one more concert, a Dec. 7 stop in Las Vegas, before heading to Australia and New Zealand in February.
She also has a wedding in her future. Wilson got engaged to football player Devlin “Duck” Hodges last February at the former home of George Jones in Franklin, Tennessee. During a recent appearance on Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast, Wilson said she will likely break from her fashion signature — bell bottoms — for a traditional wedding dress.
“I haven’t went shopping just yet, but I figure if there was any day to do it,” she said, adding that Devlin will be in disbelief. “Duck will probably be shocked.”
Still, she isn’t ruling out a bell bottoms appearance. “Maybe for the afterparty,” Wilson laughed. “Maybe for the reception.”
