Robyn, Jamie xx Reunite for New ‘Dopamine’ Remix

Robyn’s mighty comeback track, “Dopamine,” has received a new remix from Jamie xx

Jamie puts his signature spin on the euphoric dance track, opening up the original’s thumping four-on-the-floor kicks into skittering grooves reminiscent of U.K. jungle, while adding more flashes and flourishes to the already strobe-like synths. The “Dopamine” remix marks Robyn and Jamie xx’s second project together, with the pair linking up just last year on “Life,” which appeared on Jamie’s most recent solo album, In Waves

Robyn released “Dopamine” back in November, with the song marking her first original solo single since her 2018 album, Honey. The Swedish pop great created the song with her longtime collaborator, producer Klas Åhlund.

In a statement at the time, Robyn said of the track, “The doubleness of ‘Dopamine’ is having an emotion that is super real, super strong, intense, enjoyable or painful, and at the same time knowing that this is just a biological process in my body — and then not to choose religion or science. To just accept that they’re there together and to be able to go in between.”

Robyn has yet to share any additional songs, nor has she confirmed whether she has a new album on the way. Since releasing Honey, Robyn has done several collaborations, including the aformentioned track with Jamie xx, as well as tracks with with SG Lewis, Channel TresJónsi, Smile, the Lonely Island, and Beck. She also guested on Lorde’s Solar Power and the remix of Charli XCX’s “360,” alongside Yung Lean. In 2022, she covered Neneh Cherry’s “Buffalo Stance” with Maipei.

Robyn also returned to the stage last month, performing at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. She has one other gig scheduled at the moment, a New Year’s Eve show at the Paramount in Brooklyn.
