Los Tigres Del Norte Will Join ‘Simpsons’ Universe for a Corrido

“When we heard back that they were game, I couldn’t have been more thrilled,” says Cesar Mazariegos, who wrote and produced the episode

Homero Simpson is going to have this corrido on blast! On Friday, FOX announced that Los Tigres Del Norte will be joining The Simpsons on Sunday’s episode, “The Fall Guy-Yi-Yi,” to perform “El Corrido de Pedro y Homero.”

“We always felt like this Bumblebee Man episode was going to be a tip of the hat to our Latin American fans, but especially to our huge Mexican/Mexican American fan base,” Cesar Mazariegos, who wrote and produced the episode, tells Rolling Stone in an email. “So what better way to close out the show than with a ‘corrido’ that recaps the tale of beloved physical comedian Pedro, and his secret stuntman-turned-friend ‘Homero’ Simpson?”

Mazariegos says Los Tigres were an “immediate pick” to close out the episode, since the group’s music — especially corridos like “La Camioneta Gris” and “Somos Más Americanos” — were the soundtrack to his childhood, riding in “my uncle’s truck in Colombia.”

“They are absolute, worldwide legends. I mean, they were on tour when we reached out to ask them for a song. I assumed they wouldn’t have time,” Mazariegos says. “When we heard back that they were game, I couldn’t have been more thrilled.”

Bad Bunny also collaborated with the show for a YouTube short film titled Te Deseo Lo Mejor in celebration of his album, El Último Tour Del Mundo.
