Brian May has said that Queen will not be touring in the United States at any point in the near future — and there’s a very specific reason for that.
“America is a dangerous place at the moment, so you have to take that into account,” he recently explained in an interview with the Daily Mail. The last time Queen performed live in the U.S. was back in 2023, with Adam Lambert as lead singer.
“It’s very sad because I feel like Queen grew up in America and we love it, but it’s not what it was.” he said. “Everyone is thinking twice about going there at the moment.”
May joins a growing list of musicians speaking publicly about current events in America, chiefly the current conflict in Minneapolis that has resulted in the deaths of two local citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, at the hands of federal ICE agents. Bruce Springsteen recently released a song about the subject, “Streets of Minneapolis,” as has Billy Bragg, called “City of Heroes.”

“I don’t know when Queen will be back on stage – it’s an unknown. We’ll take it day by day,” he continued. “It was time to take a break and spend time with family, take stock. But never say never about not coming back, the rebuild of Queen Two is coming back, and there are a couple of things you haven’t heard.”
