Rosalia Details ‘Euphoria’ Character in Vogue Cover Story

The Spanish singer will star in Season Three of the hit show

Rosalía’s television debut as an actor is just around the corner — and she has shared more details about her mysterious character in the much-awaited third season of Euphoria.

In her Vogue cover story, the Spanish singer revealed how there were “unplanned ‘sincronicidades,’” which translates to synchronicities, between her and her character. “There was a bridge, which was a surprise to me… There was a connection that I didn’t see coming,” Rosalía said. She didn’t relay just what those parallels may be, though. In the trailer for Season Three, the singer is only seen briefly as a dancer onstage in a club called Silver Stripper. She notably sports a striking, sparkly neck brace.

Though Rosalía didn’t provide anymore details about her character, Sam Levinson offered some insight into the potential connections the singer has with her character. “While shooting, we had discussed her album and the ideas that lead to Season Three and were both surprised by their thematic and religious alignment,” Levison told Vogue.

Levinson also shared how moved he was by Rosalía’s Lux from the initial listen. “When I heard Lux for the first time, I was deeply moved. ‘Divinize’ is when it hit me. She created a truly transcendent work of art,” he said.

It’s a moment Rosalía recalled as well, as Levinson was one of the first people she played the album for. “He cried, and that was shocking to me,” Rosalía said. “I’ve never seen him like that. I kind of felt like this was a sign that I was on the right path, because that’s how I made this album. I made this album in tears,” she said.

While we still don’t know much about Rosalía’s character in Euphoria, Levinson did make sure to compliment the singer’s performance. “Rosalía gave a terrific audition. She’s a great character. Funny, tough, emotional. I also love her accent. She was perfect for the part,” he told Vogue. Season Three of Euphoria arrives on April 12 via HBO Max.
