The Best Movies on Disney+ Every Film Lover Must See

Disney+ has a reputation as the streaming service for kids. This is not undeserved. Disney is one of the biggest brands in children’s entertainment, and has been for roughly a century. The childhood icons of multiple generations — from Mickey Mouse, to Davy Crockett, to Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, to Scrooge McDuck and Launchpad, to Woody and Buzz Lightyear — can only be streamed on Disney+.

Indeed, when Disney+ first launched in the fall of 2019 it focused on all-ages entertainment to the exclusion of everything else; there wasn’t a single R-rated film in its entire archive. But in subsequent years they loosened the restrictions quite a bit, to the point that you can now find some really wild titles there if you know where to look for them. (“Hun? Why don’t you go make the popcorn while I fire up Disney+ and turn on Slotherhouse, the horror comedy about the killer sloth.”)

If your tastes run a little older and less killer-sloth-related, though, here’s what you do: Make sure you have seen the 15 titles below, all the best and most notable films that are currently streaming on Disney+. I must note here that while Disney+ has integrated their sister service Hulu’s library into its own, you can only watch those options if you subscribe to both streamers. So this list only includes actual Disney+ content. (That is why Slotherhouse did not make the cut; it will obviously appear on the eventual list of the best movies on Hulu.)
