Spring is a season of growth and new life. The world seems to come alive as flowers bloom, birds chirp and — you guessed it — the butterflies start spreading their wings.
“Butterfly Season” paints that same picture.
Langley starts off singing about making changes in her life and seeing a different road laid out before her. It’s quite personal as the country singer disappeared from the spotlight in August to center herself.
After spending time with her family and in her Bible, Langley came back with a new energy, focus and authenticity that she’s bringing to her music.

“It’s butterfly season, I’m finding my wings / A good time for leaving behind the old me / Headed for blue skies and lavender fields / Don’t know where I’m landing, just know how it feels / When it’s time to fly,” the two women harmonize on the chorus.
Ella Langley’s Dandelion Chapter Ties Into Her Hungover Chapter
The uptempo track is a part of Langley’s new album Dandelion, which arrived on Friday (April 10). Just like the title track, “Butterfly Season” represents where the country singer is in her life and career. It’s safe to say she’s in a season of personal growth and feeling more like herself than ever.
In fact, the album’s title alone is a flag planted in that growth.
“Dandelion” is a song that was originally supposed to be a part of her debut studio album, Hungover, but she chose to hold onto it. It was a move that ended up being more poetic than she intended.
While making her sophomore album she learned that dandelion tea is often used to detox the liver.
“When I heard that, it was like a lightbulb when off over my head,” she tells Theo Von on the This Past Weekend podcast. “It was like, ‘Oh my God, a record called Dandelion after a record called Hungover.'”
“It’s like, you’re just growing up,” she adds.
