Laufey Enlists Alysa Liu, Hudson Williams in ‘Madwoman’ Video

Icelandic-Chinese singer enlists all-star Asian and Asian-American cast for A Matter of Time: The Final Hour track

Laufey assembles an all-star cast for a Sixties pool party in the new video for “Madwoman,” off the deluxe edition of the singer’s Grammy-winning album A Matter of Time.

Joining the Icelandic-Chinese singer in the video is a group of Asian and Asian-American celebrities like Olympic gold medal-winning figure skater Alysa Liu, Heated Rivalry actor Hudson Williams, The Summer I Turned Pretty actress Lola Tung, and Katseye singer Megan Skiendiel. Director Warren Fu helmed the video, assisted by a production team that includes cinematographer Andrew Truong and production designer Evaline Wu Huang.

“Growing up, I felt a general lack of representation for people who looked like me in music and media. With the ‘Madwoman’ video, I wanted to be that representation,” Laufey said in a statement. “The result is what honestly feels like my absolute dream video and exactly what younger Laufey would have loved to see.”

The “Madwoman” video, which was filmed recently in California, arrives just hours after Laufey performed Sunday at Coachella; she’ll also take the stage for the festival’s second weekend next Sunday. After that, Laufey will embark on a tour of Asia that includes stops in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, and more. “Madwoman” is one of four new tracks that feature on A Matter of Time: The Final Hour, the deluxe edition of the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album Grammy-winning LP.
