Singer makes another surprise Coachella appearance, joining Rae on “Headphones On” before live premiere of You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love single
Olivia Rodrigo made a surprise appearance at Coachella on Saturday, taking the stage unannounced during Addison Rae’s set to give her just-released new single “Drop Dead” its live debut.
Toward the end of Rae’s set, that singer was performing her song “Headphones On” when she paused after the lyric “I compare myself to the new It Girl,” at which point Rodrigo emerged onstage:
The two singers then duetted the remainder of that song together before Rae relinquished the spotlight to Rodrigo, who used the opportunity to perform her You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love single live for the first time:
While Rodrigo has never played her own Coachella set, the singer has a history of surprise appearances at the fest: In 2024, she made an unannounced cameo during No Doubt’s reunion set to join that band on “Bathwater.”
“Drop Dead,” the Cure-inspired first single off You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, arrived on Friday. On Instagram, Rodrigo wrote, “I love this song so much!!! It’s the first chapter in the story of ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ and it makes me wanna skip around and roll the windows down and make out!”
You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, which her fans have dubbed GSIL, arrives June 12 via Geffen Records. Before that, on May 2, she’ll work double duty on Saturday Night Live.
