Natalie Maines and the Chicks will return to the road this fall as they look to celebrate 20 years of their Grammy-winning album, Taking the Long Way.
The country trio just announced 16 new tour dates, starting with a September show in Detroit.
- Taking the Long Way was released on May 23, 2006. It was the group’s first album after Maines’ criticism of President Bush.
- The 14-song collection was a commercial and critical success. The single “Not Ready to Make Nice” also won a Grammy.
- Tickets for the new tour go on sale June 4 at 10AM local time.

The tour will feature Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer playing Taking the Long Way in its entirety for the very first time.
After that, they’ll close the night with several catalog hits and fan favorites.
This news comes as Maines takes to social media to blast the current president.
“Our democracy is disappearing right before our eyes,” she wrote last week before calling him a vulgar name. The White House would later respond, calling Maines a “despicable nobody.”
It was hardly the first time she’s criticized President Trump. After the public responded, Maines embraced the feedback and pointed to the 2003 controversy that led to Taking the Long Way.
The Chicks’ most recent album was Gaslighter, released in 2020.
