Jelly Roll Addresses Divorce, Shuts Down Cheating Rumors


Jelly Roll is speaking out for the first time since news of his divorce from Bunnie Xo became public — and he’s pushing back on some of the rumors surrounding their split.

During a stop on his Little AS* Shed Tour in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on Thursday (June 18), the country star addressed the divorce directly from the stage, making it clear there is still plenty of love and respect between him and his estranged wife.

“While we’re talking about liars, the internet is a liar too,” Jelly Roll told the crowd. “This is the only time and the only city I’m going to speak about this, so break your camera phones out now.”

Setting the Record Straight

The singer, whose real name is Jason DeFord, used the moment to shut down one of the biggest rumors surrounding the breakup.

“Me and my wife are best friends, we will always be best friends,” Jelly Roll said. “I will love her. She will probably be the only woman I’ll ever love the way I loved her.”

He then addressed speculation that infidelity played a role in the split.

“Nobody cheated on nobody,” he told the crowd. “She just did a whole podcast about it. You can go watch it.”

Jelly Roll also revealed that he and Bunnie Xo had spoken on the phone earlier that day.

Bunnie Xo Broke Her Silence First

Just hours before Jelly Roll’s comments, Bunnie Xo addressed the divorce publicly for the first time on her Dumb Blonde podcast.

According to Bunnie, the divorce could be finalized within the next few weeks.

She also revealed that the couple’s plans to have a child together have not changed. “We’re still having a baby together,” Bunnie said.

Jelly Roll later echoed her comments during his concert, telling fans, “Every word of it is the truth.”

Looking Ahead

Despite the end of their marriage, Jelly Roll made it clear he expects Bunnie Xo to remain a major part of his life moving forward.

That will be my best friend forever. Bunnie, I love you baby. Thank you for those 10 years. They were incredible.

Looking toward the future, he added, “Thank you for the next 10 years of friendship and 20 beyond that.”

Jelly Roll filed for divorce from Bunnie Xo in Williamson County, Tenn., on May 18. Court documents list May 9 as the couple’s date of separation and cite irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
