Benson Boone, Alix Earle Fight a Dragon in ‘The Time of My Life’ Video

The theatrical video features the duo in a medieval landscape as Boone battles a broken heart

Benson Boone and Alix Earle take to the stage in the video for his new song “The Time of My Life,” a heartbreak anthem that carries rock flourishes and Boone’s signature soaring vocals.

The Matt Easton-directed video features Boone and Earle playing the leading roles in a theater play about a medieval meet cute. Soon, the duo are taking a romantic boat ride under a starry sky, fighting drunk knights at a pub, and battling a hapless dragon. Unfortunately, Boone has other things on his mind, and can’t help but glance at an empty seat in the crowd that’s reserved for his ex-lover.

The song’s lyrics — written by Boone and collaborators Jack LaFrantz, and producer Jason Evigan — echo the singer’s lovelorn spirit as he sings, “Yes, I’m having the time of my life, but something about it feels so off/I wish you came along/If this is as good as it gets, then why is my head such a mess, dear?” Despite his emotional disconnect between the stage and reality, Boone gives the eager audience their happy ending and ties the knot with Earle in a royal wedding, sealing the deal.

The “The Time of My Life” is Boone’s first single since releasing his sophomore album American Heart, which debuted at Number Two in the U.S. and Canada. He teased the song with Earle prior to its debut, dropping TikToks her lip-syncing the song from a yacht in Monaco
