The actor was a surprise guest during the band’s concert at Madison Square Garden
Mumford and Sons surprised fans packed into Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night with a very special guest: Jason Sudeikis.
During the concert in New York City, the star and co-creator of Ted Lasso hopped on stage and joined Marcus Mumford to sing the beloved show’s theme song. The audience broke into cheers during the impromptu duet and as the pair hugged before Sudeikis headed back into the crowd.
In recent years, Mumford has released multiple pieces of solo work and compositions, including 2020’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and the soundtrack for Ted Lasso. (The Apple TV show’s theme song was nominated for an Emmy in 2021.)
Ted Lasso‘s highly-anticipated fourth season returned earlier this month. The new chapter finds Sudeikis reprising his titular role — a slight plot twist given the character’s apparent departure at the end of the third season in 2023.
Along with Sudeikis, Season Four features the returns of Emmy Award winner Brett Goldstein, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift. New additions to the cast are Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely.
Sudeikis made another surprise cameo earlier this year. During the halftime performance for the 2026 World Cup Final in July, Sudeikis came onto the pitch in character as Coach Lasso alongside his trusty deputy Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt). In perfect Lasso fashion, he arrived just in time to give a pep talk to Justin Bieber, one of the top acts during the highly-anticipated show.
