Zara Larsson Drops ‘Blue Moon’ Video: Watch

The Swedish pop star turns a dirt road and bus stop into fantastical, romantic settings in her latest Midnight Sun clip

brings fairy dust, butterflies, and animated hearts in her perfectly choreographed dancing wake in her new video for “Blue Moon.”

In the Charlotte Rutherford-directed video, the Swedish pop star struts down a dirt road before kicking off her heels and dances as she sings. “Shine on me/Kiss me in the dark/Tell me I like beautiful underneath the stars,” she sings on the catchy chorus. “Head on your chest, that’s my favorite part/Don’t we look beautiful underneath the stars?”

Animated hearts and butterflies create a romantic, fantastical world around the singer, who also dances in a bus stop and on a wet, deserted street. She later sprouts wings to become a fairy and transforms into a mermaid.

“Blue Moon” is the fourth single from her fifth album, last year’s Midnight Sun, following  “Pretty Ugly,” “Crush,” and the title track.

In a recent Musicians on Musicians interview with Robyn for Rolling Stone, Robyn asked Larsson if she feels pressure for the future or if “the moment is now” for her. “I do think the moment is now. When I started out, I just wanted to sing, I wanted to perform. But now I am in charge of what I make and what I write and who I work with,” Larsson said. “It took me a long time to get into that, maybe because I started so young and felt really powerless. I cared a lot about the general public. What do they want? What do they want to hear? What should I look like? I don’t care as much anymore — and that’s ironically when other people start caring more, because you’re more true to who you are. I don’t think there is an expiration date on a pop star. This is just who I am.”
