Review: RØRY – RESTORATION – ALTCORNER.com

RØRY is releasing debut album RESTORATION at the end of January – showing it’s never too late to chase your dreams as she turns 40.

Opener ‘if pain could talk, what would it say..’ is haunting from the get go. It starts with a creepy intro of RØRY’s pain calling to her and builds in intensity both instrumentally and in her vocal delivery. It’s very hard hitting lyrically.

Wolves is a very relatable track lyrically for me and it’s delivered really well, with some of the heaviest lyrical parts shining through with a calming instrumental mixing well with the more heavier sounds.

Roxanne Emery joins RØRY on ‘hold on’. The track mixes hip hop vocals for the verses and melodic vocals for the chorus and it’s a nice mix with a calming guitar line and soft drums but it does end abruptly which is something I’m not much of a fan of.

Sherlock Holmes gives me a bit of a Cascada ballad vibe and I’m absolutely loving it.

One Drink Away is a very open song about getting sober and turning your life around but the thoughts about relapsing are always there in the background of your mind.

RØRY is a multi-talented artist. Throughout the album she effortlessly mixes soft, melodic and at times angelic vocals with rapid fire hip-hop style deliveries and sounds incredible at all times.

RØRY really opens up about some extremely personal moments and feelings throughout the album but it’s also a sign of hope and positivity – that she’s here, releasing her debut album and showing the world that it’s never too late to aim for the sky and make your dreams happen.

Musically the album is a really nice listen. The guitar tones work well with the vocals and the drums add a great beat to the rap element.

RESTORATION is an early contender for the 2025 albums of the year list.
