REVIEW: Katastro – Our Favourite Song

Last month, Katastro released some of their new singles under Our Favourite Song. The tracks serve as a teaser for their final album Until the End of Time due to release next month.

As an ode to their late frontman Andy Chaves, Our Favourite Song contains four of 14 tracks that will feature on their next album. As a whole, there’s quite a summery feeling to the songs, with lyrics that look back in fondness.

Musically, the tracks are very similar. Being only a snippet of the album, I do hope that there’s more variety within Until the End of Time. The songs are good. They’re feel good, with catchy hooks and I like the emotional turn that Muse takes. I don’t think Katastro set out for a number of tracks that are deep and elaborate, but instead look on the bright side. That’s what Our Favourite Song does.

Four tracks seem too short to fully decide if I’m excited to listen on. Truth be told, the repetitive beat of the singles is slightly off-putting, but I’m remaining hopeful that the release of next month’s album will give us more to hear, and more to feel.

Our Favourite Song is out now, and Until the End of Time is out on October 4.
