The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn Announces New Album Always Been, Shares Song: Listen

The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn has an album on they way produced by the War on DrugsAdam Granduciel. The product of the partnership, Always Been also features the War on Drugs as session musicians, as well as guest vocals by Kathleen Edwards and Sam Fender. Listen to “People of Substance,” from the LP, below before the album’s release on April 4, via Tamarac.

Said Finn in press materials, “I believe this to be the most narrative record I have made. Most songs concern a protagonist who pursued a career as a clergyman despite a lack of faith. The record tells the story of his rise and fall and redemption, while also filling out the details of his travels and the world in which he lives. I am very proud of what we made, I hope you enjoy.”

Granduciel produced the LP at his studio in Burbank, California, with Jonathan Low on the mix. Finn will be on the road supporting Bob Mould in April—check out Mould’s dates.
