Given that rock predates metal by several years, we had to be even more selective with our picks since there are so many more records that could’ve made the cut. For that reason, we tried to cover as many decades as we could, too.
Likewise – and as usual – our final picks are a mix of no-brainers (that nearly all fans will probably agree with) and some potential upsets that aren’t as unanimously favored over the records that arrived before or after them.
Nevertheless, we’re sure that you’ll agree that all 11 of these albums are at least one of their creators’ greatest collections. For us, however, they’re unquestionably their definitive works.
