11 Rock + Metal Bands Whose Fifth Album Is Their Best

Here are 11 rock + metal bands whose fifth album is their best!

Over the past few years, we’ve looked at rock and metal bands whose first, second, third or fourth albums are their magnum opuses. Now, the time has come to celebrate artists who accomplished near perfection on their fifth full-length studio collections.

Interestingly, these records are all over the place in terms of where they land within their creators’ catalogs. For instance, some came out relatively early into their careers, whereas others placed roughly in the middle or near the end of their discographies (at least so far).

Plus, we’re arguably delivering the most stylistically diverse list of the bunch here, as these LPs fit firmly within rock and/or metal landscapes while also tapping into grunge, electronic and indie pop (among other musical terrains).

Nevertheless, we stand by them being the crowning achievements of their respective artists’ outputs and 11 of the best fifth albums of all time. We’d love to know if you agree with our picks, though, or you feel that we’re totally off our rockers with some of them.

(On that note, we know that 2001’s Blackwater Park is probably the majority of fans’ favorite Opeth record, but we’d be lying if we said it was ours. Sorry!)
