Lorde Shares New Song “Hammer”: Listen

Lorde has shared one more new song before she drops Virgin, her new album, on June 27. “Hammer” is the opening song on the LP and is described by Lorde as “an ode to city life and horniness.” A music video, directed by Renell Medrano, is out soon. Listen to the song now below.

Virgin was co-produced by Lorde and Jim-E Stack, and features contributions from Daniel Nigro, Fabiana Palladino, Inc. No World’s Andrew Aged, Buddy Ross, and Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes. The album’s first two singles, “What Was That” and “Man of the Year,” got their own music videos, too.

Beginning in September, Lorde will go on an international tour in support of Virgin. Opening select concerts on that run will be Blood Orange, the Japanese House, Nilüfer Yanya, Chanel Beads, Empress Of, Jim-E Stack, and Oklou.

After Lorde’s released her third studio album, 2021’s Solar Power, she continued to roll out visuals for select cuts from the LP over the following years, including videos for “Oceanic Feeling” and “The Path.” She also re-recorded certain Solar Power songs for an EP sung in Māori.
