Imogen Heap to Reissue Speak for Yourself for 20th Anniversary

Today (July 18) marks the 20th anniversary of Imogen Heap’s highly influential 2005 LP, Speak for Yourself. To celebrate, Heap is reissuing the album—her first to be entirely self-written and self-produced. Out October 17, via Megaphonic, the new edition features updated cover artwork and is led by a remastered version of its frequently sampled, famously memed lead single “Hide and Seek.” Listen to it below, and watch Heap in conversation with engineer Simon Heyworth, who worked on both the original Speak for Yourself and the anniversary remaster.

Heap’s last solo album, Sparks, came out in 2014. Since then, Ariana Grande sampled Speak for Yourself’s “Goodnight and Go” on “Goodnight N Go,” from her 2018 album, Sweetener, and, in 2019, Heap and Guy Sigsworth reunited as Frou Frou to share what was then their first new song in over 15 years.
