KeiyaA Returns With Video for New Song “Stupid Prizes”: Watch

KeiyaA is back with her first new song in years. “Stupid Prizes” follows 2022’s “Camille’s Daughter,” and it comes with a black-and-white music video co-directed by KeiyaA and Caity Arthur. Watch it below.

“I wrote, recorded, and produced ‘Stupid Prizes’ all in one sitting, at home late at night in my living room in Brooklyn,” KeiyaA said in a statement. “I sampled Percy Faith, an orchestral composer known for creating rich and luscious scores and show tunes, helping contribute to this classic ‘American’ sound. I sought out to create this sort of bed of irony, to speak and sing about being miserable on top of this beautiful, dreamy, and romantic music. Which speaks not only to what it can feel like navigating my internal and external worlds, but also what it feels like being a marginalized person in America.”

KeiyaA—a Chicago-born singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer who is now based in New York—released her debut album, Forever, Ya Girl, to great acclaim in 2020. Her first full-length stage production, Milk Thot, premiered at New York’s Abrons Arts Center earlier this year, and, according to a press release, she plans to release her sophomore studio album in 2025.
