Julian Lynch Departs Real Estate Ahead of Atlas Anniversary Tour

Julian Lynch is leaving Real Estate. “I’m so grateful to have been able to spend most of the last decade creating, performing, and traveling with my friends in the band,” the singer and guitarist wrote on Instagram. He will not join Real Estate on their upcoming “11 year and seven month anniversary tour” of their 2014 album Atlas.

Lynch continued: “Next week’s brief leg of touring with Tennis will hold special significance for me, since these will be my final shows with the band before I move onto other things. Thank you to my bandmates for sharing these experiences with me. Thanks also to Real Estate’s welcoming fans and to all of the kind and talented people I’ve been able to meet or work with along the way. Looking forward to seeing some of you at the shows next week :)”

In 2016, Real Estate fired their founding guitarist, Matt Mondanile, due to allegations of sexual misconduct. Lynch was brought on as his replacement and has since played on In Mind, The Main Thing, and Daniel. He shared the solo album Rat’s Spit in 2019. Earlier this year, Real Estate put out a rarities compilation titled The Wee Small Hours.
