REVIEW: Blessthefall – Gallows – ALTCORNER.com

It’s been a long wait for a new Blessthefall album (seven years to be precise), and they made it worth the wait with Gallows.

Opening with lead single Mallxcore, your ears are treated to a brutal set of verses and silky cleans for the choruses. The sheer veracity of the drums combined with the bass is in your face, and the scream vocals put you over the edge.

Venom’s chorus is insanely catchy with the delivery of the lyrics “I was waiting for the end, I had a deathwish, now I got my hands around your throat i got a death grip.

Somebody Else is the first of the guest features. It’s a more melodic track with almost wholly clean vocals and features Caskets. I think this has my favourite vocals in it as they’re just *chefs kiss*.

Drag Me Under features Alpha Wolf and it’s one of the stand out songs. It’s written really well and executed perfectly. It has intense, brutal verses, slick guitar work and a funky middle rhythm section.

Light the Flame has some of the most beautiful lyrics on the album. Seriously, check them out if you really need a boost (which I did as I was listening to this).

Gallows by Blessthefall is hands down in the top albums of the year. It’s an absolute bop from start to finish. Every song has a huge hook, sick breakdowns and a perfect blend of scream and clean vocals. The guitar work throughout is great.
