Otoboke Beaver Return With “I Don’t Need to Be in Your Strike Zone”

Otoboke Beaver are back with their first music since 2022’s Super Champon. Their new, three-track single is titled Is the New Album Out Yet?, and today, it bursts out of the gates with “I Don’t Need to Be in Your Strike Zone.” Watch the Japanese punk band raise hell in the minutelong track’s video, directed by Haruko Tajima, below.

The maxi single’s other songs—“Hey, Where’s the Thank You?” and the title track—will arrive on April 10 and 15, respectively. A physical 4″ vinyl version follows on June 10. Since Super Champon, the group has released a pair of live albums and lined up European support dates with Foo Fighters. The band says Is the New Album Out Yet? is its final release with drummer Kahokiss, who went on maternity leave last year and will retire from band activities after forthcoming shows in Osaka, Tokyo, and Kyoto. New drummer Leo (Emi), formerly of Shonen Knife, will replace her.
