Dhani Harrison, the son of George Harrison, and venerable producer Nigel Godrich have formed a new duo. The musicians’ debut self-titled album as Dragonflies is due September 18 on Dark Horse Records/BMG. Ruffmercy directed the hand-drawn, impressionistic music video for the LP’s opening track, “Slower.” Watch it below.
“He has strong opinions about what he wants to hear, and for me it’s very humbling,” Harrison said in a press statement, to which Godrich added, “It’s like one person throwing something in the air and the other person catching it.”
Harrison played guitar and sang on Dragonflies, while Godrich handled production. The album also features percussion from Godrich’s Ultraísta bandmate Joey Waronker and string arrangements by David Campbell, who has frequently collaborated with his own son, Beck, including on 2002’s Godrich-produced Sea Change.
