King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have revealed the title track to their forthcoming EDM album, Alien Metal. It’s the latest preview of the group’s new foray into the high-energy genre, following the release of “Level 5” last month. Give it a listen below.
The bands 28th LP is due “later this summer” on P(doom) Records, and was made using the modular synth the six-piece plays during their live shows. (The band has affectionately deemed the rig “Nathan.”) “It completely rewired my brain,” Stu Mackenzie said of the Eurorack rig, which he began experimenting with on the recommendation of bandmate Joey Walker. “I was like, ‘I’m going to forget everything I know about music and relearn it all from scratch.’”
Next month, Gizz is set to play a three-night run at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium before honoring their latest sonic turn with a “Rave Show” at the city’s Under the K Bridge Park. Today, they also announced an Australian tour, which will see them visit Thirroul, Sydney, and Melbourne in October.
