Fleetwood Mac Announce Fleetwood Mac Documentary

The story of Fleetwood Mac is classic rock canon at this point, memorialized via an assortment of unauthorized films, loosely inspired TV shows and plays, and Lindsey Buckingham’s recent turn as a reaction influencer for some reason. Now the band themselves are ready to “officially” tell their story, in Fleetwood Mac: The Chain, a Frank Marshall-directed documentary. It’s set to premiere on Apple TV on January 29.

Unsurprisingly, The Chain will keep its focus on the most popular era of the Mac: their 1974-2018 lineup of Stevie Nicks, Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and the late Christine McVie. (Sorry to Peter Green heads). The Chain, which promises “never-before-seen footage and exclusive new interviews,” bills itself as the first fully authorized documentary from the band, though that’s a bit of a technicality: they all participated in the BBC’s one-hour 2009 doc Fleetwood Mac: Don’t Stop.
