REVIEW – Butcher Babies – NIGHTBLOOM

Butcher Babies are back with new album NIGHTBLOOM (October 2).

The opening to Lost in Your Touch immediately has me hooked with Heidi’s sultry vocals mixing with the screaming. It’s a strong opening song.

Sincerity hits home lyrically, focusing on questioning a relationship, and Heidi’s vocals really shine through. It also has a great guitar line.

Broken & Beautiful is one that everyone needs to hear as it has some stunning lyrics throughout, same as Black Clouds Over Georgia.

I’ve been a fan of Butcher Babies for years and was ecstatic when NIGHTBLOOM was announced and it does not disappoint.

It’s heavy, there’s sick riffs, cool drum and basslines and the mix of screams and soaring melodic vocals throughout is brilliant.

Lyrically it’s angsty and a recollection of Heidi’s cycle of self-loathing and doubt, before she took the step into therapy and recollected a number of memories and emotions and you can hear them throughout the album.
