REVIEW: Chastity’s Self Titled! – ALTCORNER.com

Chastity have returned with their brand-new self-titled album!

Recently, Chastity released their latest full-length album. Chastity is a 13-track ode to those who are a little different, to those who have made it through a mental crisis – and those that haven’t. It’s a fast-paced listen, heavy on distortion and emotion piece.

Unfortunately, the album is not for me. Although the music wasn’t bad, I found that most of the tracks sounded the same. It was hard for me to stay interested. It did, however, pick up a little towards the end. I enjoyed the change of pace from Offing and Demons in the House, and a few songs that followed such as Lake Ontario and the emotional close that came with Drawing the Sun Back in the Corner of the Paper. As a final track, Drawing the Sun Back in the Corner of the Paper is incredible, although having the complete energy-shift would have been effective at any point in the album. As a final track, I really felt like it was the end. The end of the album, and the end of a cycle.

As it stands right now, according to Spotify streams, fan-favourites are Jaw Locked, Summer All Over Again and Offing. Jaw Locked introduces the album well, kicking straight in and working as a teenage-dirtbag anthem, although Summer All Over Again is where I started feeling the repetition.

Chastity might be your cup of tea. It might be a sound that resonates with you, but unfortunately, it doesn’t resonate with me. It’s out now, and I encourage you to have a little listen.
