The Dangerous Summer took their UK tour to The Waterfront in Norwich!
Opening the night was Scottish pop-punk band Happydaze, the fans were still on their way in, but frontman Luke Bovill was great at getting the crowd standing at the bar and around the room closer.
Despite Bovill announcing at the beginning of the set that he had injured his back earlier in the day, they still managed to put on one hell of a show and kept the crowd engaged. They ended their set with new track ‘Way Out’ and it was the perfect end, and I would gladly watch them play again!
Up next was Broadside, a band I’ve loved and waited to see for a while, and they didn’t disappoint at all. The crowd was finally packed out and it was clear to see that there were a lot of big fans of them here, looking around the room you could see so many people singing along with them.
It was the perfect blend of emotion, energetic dancing, and pure fun. My personal favourites of the night were ‘Dazed and Confused’, ‘Coffee Talk’, and ‘Cruel’. You can catch Broadside supporting State Champs next year alongside The Home Team.
Finally, it was time for The Dangerous Summer, this venue is slightly strange because there’s not a hidden side of stage so guitar tuning and checks were done on stage prior to the set, but there was still a roar of excitement when the band came out properly for the beginning of their set.
They opened the show with ‘Gravity’ and fans were immediately singing along and having a great time and this energy remained for the entirety of the set. Frontman Aj Perdomo announced that instead of leaving the stage after the next song for an encore they won’t be leaving but they’d still love to be hyped up, he then announced Broadside bassist Pat Diaz will be playing the next song while he gets into the crowd, the whole room had their torch lights up and swarmed around the spot in the room that Perdomo was singing in.
My only criticism for the whole night was the lack of excitement from the people on the barrier, I felt like the band wanted a little more from them as they just looked rather unphased by the fact the band was right there. Other than that, I thought it was the perfect lineup and a great show and found a new band to add to my playlists in Happydaze.
