Delilah Bon, tiLLie @ The Waterfront Studio, Norwich

Delilah Bon brought her ‘Evil, Hate Filled Female’ tour to Norwich, and she brought tiLLie along for the ride.

Opening the night, tiLLie came out and went straight into ‘mOmS bAsEmeNt’, the crowd were singing along so clearly she was no stranger to this crowd.

She asked who had seen her live before and only a couple of people responded so she noted that she was performing for a completely new group of people, so she introduced herself and proceeded with her set.

Throughout the entirety of the show we heard personal stories – difficult stories to share which made her songs so much more impactful. I loved tiLLie, her music, her vibe, her energy, everything about her made her the perfect support for Delilah Bon.

Enter Delilah, opening with ‘Brat’ it was clear to see that this show was going to be one to remember, you can tell that her “bon bons” are super dedicated fans and her music has impacted every single one of them in one way or another.

Her bass player Ruena and backing singer/hype woman Jem were so entertaining throughout the whole set, the costume changes, the mischief, the dancing, the stage presence of them all makes these shows something so much more than just the music.

Delilah‘s music is written with such conviction and her rage filled lyrics are so important for all women and nonbinary people as well as the whole LGBTQ+ community. Hearing the passion in not only Delilah’s voice but also the crowd makes me extremely emotional that the lyrics resonate so deeply with everyone including me and it truly highlights how crucial it is to have musicians like Delilah Bon in the industry.

As soon as she went into ‘War on Women’ there were instantly tears around the room, I had to hold back tears myself just to keep steady for photos. It’s amazing to have a safe space to be able to cry and let out all your emotions and anger. It just breaks my heart that there’s so much need for this in the world right now.

Her last song, before she left for her encore, ‘Dead Men Don’t Rape’, her most angry song, from the second it started, with no prompt needed, the crowd absolutely exploded, this was clearly the moment everyone in that room was waiting for and needed so badly, I’ve not heard a crowd in that small room, be that loud in a long time.

Delilah Bon and tiLLie together made for an empowering, unforgettable night, filled with raw passion, attitude, and boundary-pushing music.
