REVIEW: Wolforna – Tales of the Damned

Leeds rockers Wolforna released their new EP Tales of the Damned towards the end of October.

Opening track Your Tongue, My Teeth is a good song. It has a nice opening with a heavier indie feel and the harmonies add a layer of atmosphere to the song. The guitar work and bass lines tie in well on the instrumentation, with the drums being consistent fills throughout.

I love how the accent shines through in What’s That in Old Money? and the callback at the end to Your Tongue, My Teeth with the distorted lyrics, almost as if it’s a radio broadcast with interference.

Chains mixes things up with an acoustic intro building in intensity slightly with the drums before mellowing back out. The pace increases as the rest of the band joins in.

Wolforna have a good EP in Tales of the Damned. It has good hooks in the right places and is quite eerie at times. Vocally I’m almost reminded of an early Arctic Monkeys sound. The EP is definitely one for fans of a more indie rock sound, which I’m usually not much of a fan of but I’d definitely add Tales of the Damned to my playlists.
