Beyoncé Announces $2.5 Million Donation for California Wildfires Relief Efforts

Beyoncé, through her BeyGood organization, is donating $2.5 million to support relief efforts in California, as residents continue to deal with the deadly wildfires in the Los Angeles area. The LA Fire Relief Fund “is earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires,” the organization said. Fans are encouraged to show their support through donations to BeyGood.

The music world is rallying to support those affected by the wildfires. There are GoFundMe fundraisers for musicians and industry figures, and the Recording Academy and MusiCares have pledged $1 million to support people impacted by the wildfires. In addition, there will be a benefit concert, in Inglewood, California, later this month to help victims.

Beyoncé’s BeyGood has supported numerous charitable causes since its 2013 foundation. The organization has donated money to support people affected by the Flint, Michigan, water crisis, displaced victims of 2017’s Hurricane Harvey, essential workers at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and more.
