Watch Father John Misty Perform New Song “The Dead Mouse One” on Colbert

Father John Misty returned to the Ed Sullivan Theater to perform a new song, “The Dead Mouse One,” for an episode aired last night. More than a decade after his name-making “Bored in the U.S.A.” rendition for David Letterman, Josh Tillman played the post-Mahashmashana track unaccompanied, on acoustic guitar, marking the first formal recording of a song that has occasionally featured in his setlists. Check it out below.

Last week, Father John Misty released I Love You, Honeybear Demos, etc., a collection of home recordings that built the foundations of the 2015 classic. He’ll hit the road this July with Lucinda Williams and Hamilton Leithauser.
