New Spinal Tap II Movie Finally Gets Release Date: Watch a Teaser


Spinal Tap II, the long-awaited and long-teased sequel to Rob Reiner’s classic 1984 movie This Is Spinal Tap, finally has a new release date. The film—originally set for a March 2024 release but delayed due to the Hollywood strikes of 2023—will get released on Friday, September 12, 2025, according to Deadline. Bleecker Street is handling U.S. distribution for Spinal Tap II. In a statement, Reiner, who directed the movie and reprises his role as Martin “Marty” Di Bergi, said, “So happy to be working with the folks at Bleecker Street who are passionate about keeping Tap’s legacy alive and happy to give Marty DiBergi another shot at relevancy.”

Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer are returning to play the fictional members of Spinal Tap: David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, and Derek Smalls, respectively. The movie will also feature Paul MCartney, Elton John, and others.
