REVIEW: Dead Air – Elements

Alt-rockers Dead Air released their new EP Elements on February 7 through Fly Tip Records.

Opening track Die starts with a cool drum beat and the guitar work as the vocals kick in is quite jazzy. It has quite an indie sound and at times the vocals are drowned out a bit by the instrumentation.

The full ‘I don’t need your company’ line in Love and Patience absolutely slaps, as does the riff.

The more mellow Violently Blue is a nice switch up from the previous songs, allowing Rueben Moonasar to show off vocally more before the chorus kicks in. It’s a really tight song. It’s a haunting track about two broken souls who have a fragile bond.

Throughout Elements, the drumming from Richard Greenbury really stands out. It’s solid and prominent with some really good fills.

Dead Air have a solid alt-rock EP here. It mixes  the typical alt-rock sounds of indie-style vocals with a more modern reliance on the drums. It’s a good listen and one I can see myself coming back to.
